This hypersensitivity leads to miniaturization of the hair follicles, causing the hair to become thinner and eventually fall out.

What is PRP / Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy?
PRP/platelet-rich plasma therapy is a regenerative procedure in which platelet-rich plasma is extracted from your own blood. The platelets contain important Growth factors and proteins that stimulate the natural healing and regeneration processes in the hair follicles.
During the treatment, a small amount of blood is taken and processed in a special centrifuge. This concentrates the platelets, creating a plasma that contains about three to five times more growth factors than normal blood. This concentrated solution is then injected into the affected areas of the scalp.

Preparation for treatment
Before each PRP / Platelet Rich Plasma therapy, we conduct a detailed consultation. Dr. Lucija Grittern analyzes your hair loss, discusses your expectations, and develops an individual treatment plan. We recommend that you refrain from taking blood-thinning medication and drink plenty of fluids before the treatment.
Performing the treatment
The treatment begins with the removal of a small amount of blood from a vein in the arm. The blood is processed in our modern centrifuge to isolate the platelet-rich plasma. The scalp is then disinfected. The PRP obtained is injected into the affected areas of the scalp using fine needles. The entire treatment takes approximately 60 minutes.
Aftercare
After PRP/platelet-rich plasma therapy, you can leave our practice immediately. We recommend that you do not wash your hair for 24 hours and avoid intense sunlight. Slight redness or swelling usually subsides within a few hours. Sports and physical exertion should be avoided for 24 to 48 hours.

The first improvements can be seen after about six to eight weeks. The full result usually develops over three to six months. Hair growth is a slow process, so patience is required.
The effect of PRP/platelet-rich plasma therapy for hair can last for 12 to 18 months. As the aging process and genetic factors continue to have an effect, we recommend regular refresher treatments to maintain the result.
Most patients find the treatment to be generally painless. The injections may cause a slight feeling of pressure.
Since the patient's own blood is used, allergic reactions are very rare. Possible side effects may include slight redness, swelling, or minimal bruising at the injection sites, which subside quickly. Serious complications are very rare when performed properly.
After the treatment, you should take care of your scalp for 24 hours and not wash it. Avoid intense sunlight and sports for one to two days. Follow the individual aftercare recommendations of our team.
