Sculptra® is based on Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible and completely biodegradable active ingredient. This substance has been used in medicine for decades and is known for its excellent tolerability. Unlike direct fillers, Sculptra® acts as a Collagen biostimulator. After injection, the polylactic acid stimulates the body's own fibroblasts to increase Collagen production. This gradually and naturally builds up skin volume from within.
What are the differences between Sculptra® and Hyaluronic acid?
While hyaluronic acid fillers achieve immediate volume results, Sculptra® acts as a long-term collagen biostimulator. Hyaluronic acid is broken down by the body after 6-18 months, whereas Sculptra® effects can last up to two years or longer. Preparation for treatment
Before each Sculptra treatment, Dr. Lucija Grittern will conduct a detailed consultation with you. She will analyze your skin texture, discuss your wishes, and explain the treatment process. This includes providing you with thorough information about possible risks and documenting the initial findings. The areas to be treated are marked and disinfected. If necessary, we apply an anesthetic cream to increase comfort during the injection.
Performing the treatment
Sculptra® is injected precisely into the appropriate skin layers using fine cannulas or needles. Dr. Lucija Grittern works with the utmost care and takes the natural proportions of the face into account. The injections are made at several levels to achieve optimal results. During the treatment, our expert gently massages the treated areas to ensure even distribution.
The entire process is usually painless and takes about 30-45 minutes. Sculptra® must be reconstituted before use, and we strictly follow the manufacturer's instructions. For optimal Sculptra before and after results, 2-3 treatment sessions at intervals of 4-6 weeks are usually required. Our patients consistently report positive Sculptra experiences in our practice.
Aftercare
After Sculptra treatment, you should massage the treated areas regularly. This is known as the 5-5-5 rule: 5 minutes of massage, 5 times a day, for 5 days. This promotes even distribution of the material. You should avoid intense sunlight and extreme temperatures in the first few days. A single Sculptra treatment takes about 30-45 minutes in our practice. This time includes preparation, the actual injection, and the final massage. The results of a Sculptra treatment can last up to two years or longer. Since the body's own collagen is built up, the effects are particularly long-lasting. After Sculptra treatment, regular massage of the treated areas is particularly important. Follow the 5-5-5 rule: massage for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days. Avoid intense exercise and extreme temperatures for the first 24 hours. You should avoid strong sunlight during the first week. Alcohol can increase swelling and should therefore be reduced. You can usually apply makeup again the next day. Our team will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions.
